About Friends
Who Are We?Friends of St Helen's is a lively and dedicated fundraising team of teachers and parents of pupils at St Helen's Roman Catholic Primary School in Caerphilly, South Wales (UK). We are wholeheartedly committed to improving the teaching and social environment of the school for the benefit and welfare of all: pupils, teachers and parents, but in particular the pupils.
What We Do?We organise and facilitate events and activities that will stimulate social interaction and development– whether there is a fundraising agenda or not – for the benefit of all connected with St Helen's Primary School. We hope in particular to nurture important life skills in our children that will stand them in good stead during their journey through life. All money that we do raise gets ploughed straight back into the school to provide essential learning tools and enhance the environment in which our children spend many key, formative hours every day. Back to topWhen Did We Start?Friends of St Helen's as a PTA group has been around a fair number of years, but was re-formed at the beginning of October 2008 to include a higher ratio of parents to teachers, who would introduce a new outside-in perspective on the agenda and remit of the group. The idea was to support the teacher network by providing supplementary, professional skills, such as event management, marketing, computer skills, arts and crafts, organisational flair and business acumen.
Where and When Do We Meet?We meet at Crossways Pub, Caerphilly every first Wednesday of the month at 7.00 pm. If you would like to join us, or have any ideas that you would like to share with us, we welcome you with a friendly smile! They serve a decent café latte too!
What Are Our Fundraising Targets/Goals?Our first target was the Storytellers' Chair requested by Mr Crosse. To see our current target please click here. We are sure that teachers and parents as well as the kids themselves will have plenty of other ideas for future targets. We have a few more of our own up our sleeves, but would like to hear yours. Please contact us with your suggestions. Back to top
